Have you ever dreamed of becoming a little mermaid? That day finally arrived when I discovered The Baking Mermaid Tearoom in Bangkok, Thailand. Read on to find out our review about this hidden gem near Thong Lo BTS Station.
I have a little yet an ambitious dream. I dreamed of becoming a princess mermaid when I grow up. I think they are so pretty with long hair and pretty voice! Maybe you can call me a “merbear” because I will become half-bear and half-mermaid.
My birthday present: a mermaid outfit + wig
This year, I received a mermaid outfit with a bear wig as my birthday present from my aunties. I was thrilled to bits, my dream finally comes true! I tried the outfit and the wig, my aunties laughed so hard, I don’t know why. I shared a photo of myself in a full mermaid outfit on Instagram and some of my furriends couldn’t even recognise me!
A mermaid-themed café in Thong Lo
The problem is, I don’t know where and what occasion I should wear this mermaid outfit. My mama loves café hopping so much, one day she just randomly asked me and papa to take her to a café in Thong Lo area, mama said I will definitely love it because it’s a mermaid themed café, it’s called “Baking Mermaid Tearoom”!
Nambi’s mermaid dream turned into reality
I dressed up in my mermaid outfit and didn’t forget to put on my wig, I looked like a legit merbear now! We headed up to Sukhumvit 51 where the café is located at, almost the end of the alley, you will see the café on your left-hand side.
We were there on a weekday, so there were only 1 or 2 people there when I arrived. I was so glad because that meant we would be able to enjoy every corner of the café with my papa and mama to the max!
Insta-worthy underwater world
For those who are planning to come here, prepare to be spoilt for photo opportunities in this mermaid-inspired tea room, the cafe is set amid beautiful ocean and underwater world scenes. You can even wear a mermaid’s tail while eating too (my mama wore it but she didn’t look as pretty as me haha).
The menu of Baking Mermaid Tea Room
The menu at Baking Mermaid Tea Room is fantasy-like yet delicious. Imagine fancy cakes and baked goods as well as drinks of different pastel colours topped with an edible mermaid’s tail, starfishes and shells.
My mama ordered an afternoon tea set for me, it came with 3 pieces of cake and 2 baked choices as well as a pot of tea of your choice for 2 persons. Papa additionally ordered a glass of ice Italian Soda, the colour looked very fancy too.
Peaceful and relaxing café
We spent almost the whole afternoon in the café. At the end we were the only group in the café, I love how peaceful and relaxing the atmosphere was too.
More Wonderful Pictures At Baking Mermaid Tea Room
They played lots of Disney fairy tale songs in a music box version which was like a karaoke for me. I and my mama sang along until papa couldn’t concentrate on his reading haha.
Their staff speaks both English and Thai. If you are a fan of mermaids and you love spending time in tearooms like me, Baking Mermaid Café is another good choice.
Want to pay this lovely cafe a visit but don’t drive? No worries, you can easily come here by taking the BTS Skytrain. Get off at Thong Lo BTS Station and head to Sukhumvit 51. It takes about 10 minutes walking to arrive at the café.
